This takes place at Samal Island in Davao during the third week of May every year. There are also often fireworks at the event – something for the whole family to enjoy.

Part of the festivities surrounding the feast of St. Peter, this celebration sees locals taking part in a kite flying competition, a traditional and much loved pastime. This event is especially fun for children, who will love the spectacle of all the brightly coloured kites in the sky.

July

Araw ng Davao del Sur, Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental

While the name might seem a bit of a mouthful, this event is simply the annual celebration of Davao’s separation into three provinces, those of del Sur, del Norte, and Oriental. If you’re in the area at this time of year this is really something not to miss, as festivities include displays of horse fighting, tribal dance performances, and beauty pageants.
