Ultimate Road Trips Around The World

The classic road trip allows you the freedom to experience a country that isn’t possible any other way. On your road trip you can stop and stay as long as you like when a place takes your fancy. You can also cover a lot of ground during your road trip, taking in the entire breadth of a country or region. From the window of your car you will be able to witness some of the most breath taking scenery this planet has to offer. Here you can discover five of the world’s greatest road trips.

Pacific Coast Highway, United States Of America

If there is one road trip in the United States that everyone should experience it is the Pacific Coast Highway. The highway runs almost the whole way down the West Coast. You can enjoy an extended trip along the entire length or take in just part of this highway. If you don’t have time for all of the Pacific Coast Highway, then try out Monterey to San Simeon. This trip takes in some of the most stunning scenery that the West Coast has to offer.

Coast-to-Coast, South Africa

The coast to coast road trip is the best way to see the incredible scenery that South Africa has to offer. The road trip takes in the stunning South African coastline, amazing wildlife and thriving modern cities. The road trip begins in Cape Town and then heads through Durban and the Ndumo game reserve. Along the way you will visit a UNESCO world heritage site and Table Mountain.

Alaska Seward Highway, United States Of America

Alaska is known for having some of the most breath taking scenery on the planet. This trip along Alaska’s Seward Highway is a great way to sample some of the best of what Alaska has to offer. The trip starts in Anchorage and ends in the town of Seward in Resurrection Bay. The trip is 127 miles and can be completed in less than three hours. However, this is not a trip that you want to race through. Take the time to soak in the sights of whales, glaciers, waterfalls and mountains.

Gobi Desert, Mongolia

If you are looking for a real off-road adventure then you need to try the Gobi Desert. Here you will be surrounded by miles of empty space and flat desert. The Gobi desert features some of the most unspoiled scenery in the world. Many travelers enjoy traveling part of this road trip on camel back and spending their nights in a real Ger campsite.

Great Southern Touring Route and the Bruce Highway, Australia

If you are looking for a comfortable but scenic road trip in Australia then the Great Southern Touring Route is for you. This road trip takes four day and covers 780km of road. During the trip you will experience some of Victoria’s most beautiful locations. You can also visit places of historical interest including Gold Rush towns and some of the first white settlements. The trip begins in Melbourne as you depart from West Gate Bridge. You will then head along the Great Ocean Road where you can take in spectacular coastal scenery. Alternatively, if you land in Sydney, a road trip up the east coast is equally beautiful. From Hervey Bay you’re a short hop to the wonderful nature and scenery of Fraser Island, and further up the Bruce Highway you get to Mission Beach and the Great Barrier Reef. Between Brisbane and Cairns, you’re spoilt for choice! There are companies offering some great holiday packages to fly drive Australia, so you don’t think that road tripping in the Land Down Under is only few gap year students.

Road trips are a fantastic way to experience a country. With your car you can take everything you need to travel in style and comfort. But to enjoy a road trip you really don’t need anything more than a set of wheels and a spirit of adventure.
